Heart thief

She returns the pen
She keeps the note
She wrote on a tissue paper
She leaves
She leaves her hand bag behind
With the note sinking between
Her makeup and
Her phone
Her phone that
Doesn’t stop beeping
Her messages come
On WhatsApp, Viber, and Telegram
And sometimes kik or with photos
On Instgram and Snapchat
How many times he snapped!

He sits quietly
He sips his coffee
He notices the pen near his arm
He holds back a wet drop in his eye
He has a pride but
He wonders what she wrote
In her note
In her bag sinking
Between her makeup and
Her phone that
Doesn’t stop beeping
He wonders if
She wrote the end.

She wonders if
He thought about the beginning.

She returns but
He has gone
She has the bag
She has the note but
Her phone is silenced!

There is something that remains missing
Is it a heartbeat or a thought incomplete?

She stares at his coffee
Then leaves
The thief has escaped!
